Por otra parte es el único que pertenece a mi hermano, fue un regalo de su “novia” a los cinco años. Esto nos sitúa en el año en que se publicó en España, 1992. A mí, tras ir a ver la película a regañadientes y que me encantase, me gustaba cantar al unísono con el tocadiscos. A mi hermano le gustaba saltar junto a el y echar a correr para que no le zumbase. Para gustos los colores.

Sobre Frank, la wikipedia dice: “Valdor was popular for his instrumental arrangements intended to be played non-stop at parties. He has been called ‘King of Dynamic Party Sound’. ” Volverá a aparecer por aquí.

El LP está algo magullado, pero cumple su promesa de música non-stop. Música de ascensor más que de fiesta, pero que se deja escuchar y sobre todo tararear. Cuatro décadas pasan volando.

Por alguna razón el editor consideró que los musicales le debían mucho al lejano oeste y la contrapotada presenta “La Comida del Cowboys”, tres recetas de judías, tocino y barquillos. ¿Igual no sabía que West Side Story sucede en el Upper West Side de Nueva York?

Boom 3 pertenece a la serie de Booms que se seguiría editando hasta 2005, recopilando cada año los mayores éxitos de la radiofórmula nacional en forma de LPs, MCs y CDs eclécticos a más no poder (para ejemplo ver la cara B, vaya montaña rusa). Trivia fact: el segundo CD que compré en mi vida fue el Boom 99, tras el famoso Generation Next recopilado por Pepsi.

Los discos están en buen estado y las dos horas de pachanga vintage se pasan volando. Un cuarto de siglo después, no me cuesta imaginar esta misma playlist en el iPod. Eso sí, se nota que los “éxitos” tienen un sesgo hispano muy pronunciado, de 1987 echo de menos a Guns ‘n’ Roses, U2, Michael Jackson, REM… Fue un año mucho mejor de lo que refleja esta selección.

So this was my answer:

From bilge rat to lookout

Ahoy! My name is Iñigo Alonso and I want to be a pirate! A mighty one, may I add. I want to sail the seven seas, with the Jolly Roger over my head, flapping in the warm wind of the Caribbean.

Although I fight like a dairy farmer, I am pretty athletic, so a few lessons with a sword master should be enough to transform me into a dangerous buccaneer. Also, I already curse like a sailor, so I’d only have to practice some taunting shouts.

Also important in a pirate’s life is the thievery, especially during the periods of time spent on shore awaiting for favourable winds, as stealing from your mates on board can cause you severe health problems, like losing your remaining eye or having to spend the night (or precisely the rest of your life) sleeping with the fish. Robbing landlocked lubbers seems much easier.

On regard of my treasure hunting abilities, I won last year’s Easter Eggs Contest held at my school. Admittedly, I only won the decoration contest, but I got to keep one of the eggs that I painted! Plus I can hold my breath for ten straight minutes, so many sunk ships are well within my reach.

So Masterclass, help me be a pirate, I’m already halfway there… Please? Pretty please? Please pretty please with sugar on top?
